BGM: Elvis Costello and The Attractions - Pump It Up

Recently, I have become a friend of an Ukrainian person on Discord. But at first, I had to find out what I could talk as any good starter topics. What topics suits basic chitchat? For example, recently I borrowed Andrey Kurkov's book "Diary of an Invasion." However, as you can see easily, this kind of topic can allow any political (therefore too serious) arguments. Have I already prepared for that kind of serious discussions? Can I enjoy that with any responsibility, even though my English can't be enough for doing that?

When I was just a beginner at learning English, I had adored to enjoy daily conversations. At that time, I couldn't have understood that how much level of English must be needed to enjoy doing that. Just I had thought that doing daily conversation (especially, the chitchat like I had written above) wouldn't need such a high level knowledge or technique in English. What a shame! By learning English eventually, I have got understood how much things I must learn to enjoy that conversations.

Along with learning Knowledge and technique, I slowly have learned how to represent my thoughts to others step by step. This is not only about the conversations in English, but also the ones in my mother tongue - once, when I was 20s (no, even in 30s) I had been so shy (or simply a coward) therefore I had to struggle to show my honest opinions to others. Yes, I had been afraid of being criticized by someone else (even though that could be a good start of any diligent conversation.) Today, on Discord, I have found that some users/members enjoyed discussing a topic with their passions - and I have had this kind of idea in me.

This evening, I enjoyed a weekly online meeting on zoom with my real friends. I won't say any flatters about this - every time in this meeting, I have been impressed by the members' mature characters and knowledges. This time, we talked about how we can make this place, Shiso city, more cheerful. As I have been always writing, I hope my English skill would help this city more active.
