BGM: The Jackson 5 - ABC
At last, March has begun. This morning, I went to AEON to do the rest of my homework, which is to read an English article from "The Book of Tea" by a Japanese intellectual Tenshin Okakura (岡倉天心) completely. And I've got really impressed by this English article because it still delivers a profound idea even though it was written about over 100 years ago (published in 1900s). Even at that old/ancient era, Japan could have this kind of intellectual who must have had keen senses!
And, this "The Book of Tea" has even let me think about how this country Japan has brought me up like this. How has this place influenced my thought? By reading this article, I can have reflected on myself eventually. Therefore this one is like a mirror. Before reading this article actually, I had thought that it must have been too old-fashioned one to enjoy or learn. But now, I have found it is quite interesting.
If I start thinking about this Japan, it often goes to any stereotype ideas as Samurai etc. Although I just have read it only one time, I guess it can be called as a kind of "orientalism" (as Edward Said had said.) But, the "The Book of Tea" tells me that there could have been a great "global" person who could have a wide perspective of view to look over everything. Why could he have had such a wide viewpoint? Oh, it must be a true wonder.
After reading that, I enjoyed talking with an American friend on Messenger. She praised my English, and also the content of my journals itself. As I have already written once, I must get surprised at this fact that my English writing actually connects various people and me globally. I have never thought that I can have written my things more "catchy." I just have written my truths so straightly (maybe in complicated English.) Am I getting a person like Tenshin Okakura? SORRY! I have tried to make a joke!
A friend of mine has recommended me to become an English teacher in the future, and also test my English by any IELTS exam. I want to google it. But, I need to train my oral English by using various opportunities. Whether or not I will do the test, I want to check my level by using any international measures of English.
