I worked late today. This morning, I joined the daily English Zoom meeting. Today's theme was the pros and cons of Zoos (and the rights of wild animals). In these daily sessions, I can't stop getting so impressed by various participants' English skills. I have learned English in this domestic environment just as a hobby, therefore, I don't have so much confidence in my skills yet. However, other members of this group usually use so fluent English that I can enjoy their brilliant technique, and also their "fertile" personalities. I should be thankful for the admins' efforts to maintain this group.
After that session, I had breakfast. Then, I went to the main house of my group home, where I started reading Haruki Murakami's non-fiction "Underground" (I had forgotten to bring the "Wind-Up Bird Chronicle" in my room. Instead, I carried it in my bag). With several soul and funk classics such as Stevie Wonder, I enjoyed it.
This "Underground" treats the notorious Subway Sarin Attack in Tokyo which happened in 1995. When I read this non-fiction for the first time, I couldn't get impressed so much because it seemed too long, and a little bit boring. However, I guess it doesn't mean that this book is a typical flop. Maybe my senses are not so ordinary that I tend to get attracted to the AUM believers who spread Sarin Gas, not the ordinary/normal people who appear in this non-fiction.
Even though I have not read this book completely yet, it is interesting to me that Haruki uses the word "violence" to describe the AUM's action (although, I have to say that I am reading this non-fiction in Japanese original text). Haruki points out that AUM's actions were a kind of "invasion" or "attack" on our society. Yes, I agree with Haruki. However, I want to think about "my inner AUM" or "my inner 'lost soul'" which needs salvation so seriously. Probably, that's why I am attracted to AUM's members, even though I won't affirm their silly "terrorism".
After that reading time, I enjoyed doodling a pic on a piece of paper. After that, I shared it with several friends through social media such as WhatsApp, WeChat, and Discord. Tomorrow, if I have time, I want to buy a sketchbook and some colorful pens to keep drawing my doodling art more and more.
