This morning, I joined the daily Zoom meeting in English. Every Sunday is a day we talk about nothing special, a so-called "free talk" day, therefore, we share various issues so loosely with each other. Interestingly, a member asked all about this in this morning's session. "If you could return to your school days, what subject would you choose to study?" It was a simple but huge question for me, and it let me think about various things. As I have written, at least personally (so I can't tell what they were to other students), my school days have been so terrible/miserable and I never want to go back there anymore.
Those days were so-called "before" this Internet era, and now I can't remember how in those days I could manage my mind well (in other words, I had been bullied or ignored by all my classmates so trying to cure my soul with plenty of books and music). However, If I were able to (or "should") return to these days, I would decide to learn English so hardly enough to find more friends "after" the Internet age, and also try to write journals in the 90s. Also, I would try to find any good place to get diagnosed as an autistic person.
This morning, on the app clubhouse there was a weekly room started by some members. They talked about the relationship between gen-AI and anime itself. As you can see easily, now AI has been used in various fields. The discussion was started by referring to a Twitter user's short anime video that had been created by gen-AI and was developed to interesting ones such as these issues: "AI someday dominates us? (they rebel against us one day, like Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey"?)" and "Why can we distinguish human being's art from AI art?" It was a very provoking time.
I am an old dude and not an anime fan, so TBH couldn't follow the discussion fully. However, of course, I want to welcome such brilliant technology in any art. But, even though gen-AI will develop more and more (so speedy like light's speed), I believe that every artist's finger will put one's life into each art. I can feel each animator's professionalism in any classical anime such as Hayao Miyazaki, Hideaki Anno, or Mamoru Oshii's creation, even though the reason is completely invisible.
