Today's English meeting on Zoom topic was about the decrease in the number of "real" bookstores in Japan. We shared how we have enjoyed shopping/buying books there and whether we use online bookstores such as Amazon. In my case, recently I rarely buy books at these bookstores, and also started trying not to browse on Amazon. As I have written in these journals, I have an addictive mind therefore once I find anything at these stores it "haunts" me. Also, my taste in reading seems to have changed from any current books on trend to the classical ones I have enjoyed during this life, so I have been satisfied with the ones I already have.
After that, I went to my parents' house in the next town to mine to talk about various things. Although they use LINE and Facebook, this time I wanted not to use Zoom or telephone to do this conversation (they must have a difficulty installing Zoom at first, and even though it was possible, that talking time seemed to me not as pleasant as offline meeting with having lunch).
We had lunch, and after that, we shared our lives. Especially, they had worried about these recent troublesome events I had to face (about the wisdom tooth I had to get pulled, the dizziness I had to endure, and how the staff of my group home had been helping me with these events). They also praised me for the current life I am enjoying even though until now I had to experience so many difficulties/troubles. My mother taught me an episode about myself which was that I had always stayed in the teachers' room in the kindergarten and enjoyed reading books there! Oh, since that childhood I must be living as a bookworm.
After returning to my room, I wrote another article for my memoir blog "Shiso-Ga". There, I wrote about how so-called flashback comes to me in my life (for example, when I learn articles/videos about bullies/harassment, their vivid expressions even possess my mind deeply). After that, I enjoyed reading a guidebook about a favorite French philosopher of mine, Emmanuel Lévinas. What has this world been talking to me? How has this world been showing its naked figure/scenery? Sorry, this book always leads me to these primal questions.
