As I've written in these journals, I will give a presentation to my friends next Thursday. This morning, at AEON I thought about what I would talk about, and decided that it would be about the relationship between the language English and me. From that, I want to develop the topic to the question; why do the Japanese people have to shoulder a certain pressure? To "master" English perfectly to become a globalized people...
Of course, I am never a specialist or an intellectual who can answer this question correctly/precisely. All I can do is just tell my friends my own opinions even though they can come from my strict bias (therefore, I need to listen to other opinions from them carefully). I remember... As I have written here, once I attended an English studying club meeting and experienced an interesting discussion; How can we learn so-called "vivid" (maybe "colloquial") English?
This morning time, I thought about that a lot by noon. For example, I usually attend Zoom meetings almost every morning to enjoy chatting/discussing with other members, and also go to English conversation classes in my town. Besides them, on the tool Discord, I enjoy chatting with my friends in English, and also write my journals in English. I wrote down those activities I have been doing to cleanse my mind enough to produce any new ideas.
When I was a teenager, as I have written many times, there seemed no internet in this world (even though there must have been a certain firm network between computers). At that era, I could never have imagined this world would become this about thirty or forty years later. Also, I could never imagined a foreign language English would become very, ultimately important for me like this. Not only it has become a global language for us, but it has also become an important tool for me to share/develop my ideas in this tiny mind in this vast global world.
I won't say everyone must learn English to survive this era (because it MUST work for us as a social/public pressure so-called fascism). I want to say my opinion which is to learn English can work for us as a certain pleasure. So, I started writing my English memo as usual today.
